So what are we up to now? Before we go back to Ireland (and Estonia) we will spend 6 weeks in South America checking out some of the places that we never got to see on our first trip here. Some of you have been asking for us to keep up the blog so we figured we might as well!
We left Sydney at 10:30am on Wednesday 15 September and magically landed in Buenos Aires (Argentina) 13 hours later at 10:30am on Wednesday 15 September (the exact same time)! The flight was interesting because we flew very close to the South Pole (we could see frozen ice on the water beneath us) and as well we could freeze time! The novelty of this time travel was fairly satisfying initially as it meant we could steal back the day that we lost on our way out to Australia in the first place, but we discovered fairly quickly that 13 hours cannot be subtracted from the day without jet-lag taking its toll....and indeed it did! After finally organising a hostel we fell asleep at 3.30pm (we had been awake for about 22 hours at this stage) and slept for 12 hours - waking up again in the middleof the night with 5 hours before breakfast was served.
We are still working out our itinerary for the next 6 weeks (suggestions welcome!) but we are loosely planning to travel up through Argentina to Bolivia, then perhaps head South into Chile before returning to Argentina and Buenos Aires to fly home.
We have been in Buenos Aires a few days at this stage (and we'll update you on that later) but initial impressions are:
- oh yeah, brushing teeth with bottled water again!
- funny how quick you get back into the travel mindset (Australia/Pyrmont no longer feel like home)
- hard to get used to having so few clothes (we aim to have very light backpacks)

Empty Pyrmont aPARTYment doesn't feel like home to us either anymore!
